A Harrowing 1941 Voyage Revisited
I’m proud to share with you an article I wrote for the Norwegian American newspaper’s June edition about a re-enactment of a near-perilous journey across the North Sea in 1941. In my book Coat Dyed Black, I portrayed the voyage across stormy, treacherous seas by the 48-foot boat Arnefjord. The newspaper article focuses on the same 200-mile crossing from Bergen, Norway to Lerwick in the Shetland Islands by the same boat 83 years later. It was part of a so-called Liberation Convoy of historic vessels to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day in Shetland. I truly hope you enjoy reading my article. Read it here.
